Profiles - Jasmine Darke
Since last working for Bruce James Productions in HOUSE
GUEST playing ‘JaneMercer’ last spring,
Jasmine has played ‘Terry’ in HOW THE OTHER
HALF LOVES; ‘Helen’ in A TOUCH OF
DANGER; ‘Mrs. Bradman’in BLITHE
SPIRIT and ‘Suzy’ in INSIDE JOB – all
in repertoire at the Devonshire Park, Eastbourne and the
Ashcroft, Croydon.
She then moved on to play ‘Irene’ in a spoof of the film Casablanca
called IN ALL THE BARS, in which she played the
Ingrid Bergman role, for BBC’s mini masterpieces.
Pantomime was then fun, being evil as ‘Witch Blackweed’ in JACK
AND THE BEANSTALK at the Kings Theatre, Southsea.
Jasmine loves a variety of roles and has not played a nun
for many years. Two notable experiences were 'MotherPeter’ in ONCE
A CATHOLIC at
the Sherman, Cardiff and the other doubling ‘PhilippeTrincant’ with ‘Sister
Clare’ in THE DEVILS at the Wolsey, Ipswich.
Jasmine has many favourite roles – ‘Amanda’ in PRIVATE
LIVES [Wolverhampton Grand]; ‘Jan’ in BEDROOM FARCE [Middlesbrough
Theatre]; ‘Wife of Bath’ in a National Tour of CANTERBURY TALES; ‘Sheila’ in DIAL
M FOR MURDER [Lyceum, Crewe]; ‘Bernarda’ in THE
HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA [Swan Productions]; ‘Olivia’ in TWELFTH
NIGHT [National Tour] and many more.
Panto is a favourite too, and has played most female
types e.g. Principal Girl – ‘MaidMarian’ in RED
RIDING HOOD [Theatre Royal, Bury St. Edmunds]; Principal
Boy – ‘Dandini’ in CINDERELLA [Pomegranate,
Chesterfield[; Fairy – ‘Bowbells’ DICK WHITTINGTON [Wyvern,
Swindon]; Baddie – ‘Carabosse’ in SLEEPING BEAUTY [Colwyn
Bay].
Jasmine lives in Bristol, loves cows and is currently writing
material for Channel 4.
