Profiles - Claire Harding
Claire trained at Birmingham School of Speech and Drama
and has enjoyed a great variety of work in her career so
far. Theatre credits include ‘Elizabeth Bennett’ in PRIDE
AND PREJUDICE and ‘Henrietta Angkatell’ in THE
HOLLOW (Gawsworth), ‘Josie’ in STEAMIMG (Pomegranate
, Chesterfield) and ‘Kate Warren’ in DEADLY
NIGHTCAP (Gordon Craig, Stevenage). She also played ‘Diskette’ in
the rock musical VIRUS and appeared for the RSC
in RICHARD III at Stratford.
Claire has worked extensively in rep in roles such as ‘Cathy’ in WUTHERING
HEIGHTS, ‘Mrs De Winter’ in REBECCA, ‘Annie’ in ROUND
AND ROUND THE GARDEN and ‘Sally Pratt’ in I’VE
BEEN HERE BEFORE. In contrast to this she has appeared
in pop videos (one reaching No 12 in the charts!) and was
glimpsed in Channel 4’s TV movie MERLIN.
Claire did a No 1 tour of THE LAVENDER HILL MOB playing ‘Mrs
Fazackerly’ and ‘Madame Gascoigne’. Since
then she has played ‘Gladys’ in a new musical
called THE ANGEL choreographed by Wayne Sleep, ‘Susan’ in FIVE
KINDS OF SILENCE and ‘Colina’ in the film THE
SHADOW.
In pantomime she has played many roles from ‘Fairy
Snowdrop’ in SNOW WHITE (Sands, Carlisle)
to ‘Prince Charming’ in CINDERELLA (Swan,
Worcester) and a whole host of characters in A CHRISTMAS
CAROL at Durham and Wimbledon.
