Profiles - Jacqueline Roberts
Jacqueline’s training started at North Herts College,
where she was awarded ‘Most Promising Actress’ by
Richard Whitmore, followed by three years at Mountview Theatre
School in North London.
Since graduating she has appeared all around the country
in many productions including MEMORY OF WATER with
Samantha Bond and Julia Sawalha which played the Vaudeville
Theatre in London’s West End: MY FAT FRIEND with
John Inman (UK Tour): and more recently at the Pomegranate
Theatre, Chesterfield and the Forum Theatre Billingham in THE
MURDER ROOM with Ross Davison and THE OPPOSITE SEX with
Kevin Pallister.
Other tours have taken her to Sweden as ‘Jill Mason’ in EQUUS and‘Graziella’ in WEST
SIDE STORY, andto the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage
as ‘Elizabeth’ in THE CRUCIBLE and ‘Sandy’ in THE
PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE.
She has spent the last three summers as leading lady in
the very difficult but rewarding seasons of repertory at
the Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton and The Lyceum Theatre,
Crewe where favourite roles have included ‘Freda Caplan’ in DANGEROUS
CORNER, ‘Elvira’ in BLITHE SPIRIT, ‘Mary
Featherstone in HOW THE OTHER HALF LOVES and ‘Rita’ in BILLY
LIAR.
TV Credits include: ‘Harem Girl’ in COR
BLIMEY (ITV), GRANGE HILL (BBC), THE
BILL (ITV), FRANKENSTEIN’S BABY (ITV)
plus numerous commercials and short films.
Pantomimes include ‘Fairy Godmother’ in CINDERELLA at
The Beck Theatre, Hayes with piano star Bobby Crush and last
year at The Kings Theatre, Southsea as the very ‘Wicked
Queen’ in SNOW WHITE opposite Jansen Spencer
of Neighbours.
In her spare time Jacqueline is an active member of the
Market Theatre in Hitchin which she helped to found nine
years ago. The venue concentrates on new writing and has
been happily running a healthy profit for the past seven
years.
