Profiles - Derek Wright
In a long and varied career Derek has appeared at most of
the major repertory theatres and his national tours include FALLEN
ANGELS, BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, TEETHING
TROUBLES, THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR, WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION,
THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, THE MAGICIAN’S
NEPHEW and REBECCA.
He has also worked extensively in Europe in productions
of THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL, NO SEX PLEASE – WE’RE
BRITISH, MOVE OVER MRS MARKHAM, THE MOUSETRAP, SPIDER’S
WEB (In Israel)and AN IDEAL HUSBAND.
London appearances include ‘Lightborn’ in EDWARD
II, ‘Derwent Wood’ in ROLES HYPHEN
ROYCE, ‘Guillot’ in EUGENE ONEGIN, ‘Don
Quixote’ in DON QUIXOTE, ‘Paterman’ in FAT
SOULS, ‘Count Seckendorff’ in BLOOD
AND IRON, ‘George’ in THE MEN’S
ROOM and ‘The Preacher’ in SEVEN BRIDES
FOR SEVEN BROTHERS followed by a season in Canada.
Television credits include EDNA THE INEBRIATE WOMEN,
GENERAL HOSPITAL, SPY TRAP, ANTHONY AND CLEOPATRA (with
the RSC), THE FIGHT AGAINST SLAVERY, GOODBYE AND HELLO for
German TV and CRIME TEAM. Films include THE
LAST HORROR MOVIE and A QUIET STORM.
Derek has most recently been playing ‘George’ in THE
CIRCLE for a three month season at the English Theatre
of Hamburg and ‘Reggie Padget’ in QUARTET for
Rumpus Theatre Company. He is delighted to be making his
sixth appearance for Bruce James Productions having previously
played in MURDER AT THE VICARAGE, ON GOLDEN POND, ME
AND MY GIRL, SPIDER’S WEB and REBECCA.
