Profiles - Simon Cox
Simon started his dance career at 11 years old with Directions
Theatre Arts in Chesterfield. He joined Phil Winstons Dance
Works College in Blackpool at 16 years old and stayed for
approx. eighteen months before returning to Directions Theatre
Arts College here in Chesterfield to complete his training.
He
has appeared in most of the Directions productions in a supporting
capacity but in 2002 he played the ‘Young Walsingham’ in HALF
A SIXPENCE & ‘John the Baptist’ in the
production of GODSPELL’, ‘Diesel’ in
the production of WEST SIDE STORY & ‘Peter’ in JESUS
CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Simon has also appeared at Her Majesty’s
Theatre & the London Palladium in the West End. In early
2003 he spent a day with Justin Timberlake’s choreographers
Marty Kadelski and Eddie Morales which has helped him enormously
in the choreography of street dances.
Simon was one of the
three male students who took second place at the London finals
of Song & Dance Trio section at Sadlers Wells Theatre
2005. From September 2005 to March 2006 he toured the Mediterranean
performing Musical Theatre on board the Cruise Liner Costa
Fortuna.
Simon came runner up in Dancemaster UK 2006. Simon
auditioned with Arlene Philips a month ago where he was successful
with his jazz street dance style for a new project to be
started in 2007.
