Following a career in industry where he was co-owner of a large JCB dealership, Martin Roddy formed a theatrical production company Big Dog Productions Ltd in June 1999.

In the West End the company was co-producer of THE GLEE CLUB at the Duchess Theatre.

With Theatre Royal Bath Productions the company produced THE DEEP BLUE SEA by Terence Rattigan starring Harriet Walter with Roger Lloyd Pack, Neil Stacey and Una Stubbs, which after opening in Bath went on a No.1 tour to Richmond, Cambridge, Poole, Woking and Brighton.
